~Updates and Transitions~

Its been 10 days I think?

The most important update right now is Shane! He is doing really well considering the accident. The bone in his leg that is fractured is the skinnier of the 2 in the bottom half of the leg. The surgeon told him to walk on it as much as he can but not to run or twist it in any way. It is still pretty swollen and hurts. He limps very much, but he is trying not to use the crutches. He still gets the headaches and he is very sore all over still. He has bruises and road rash and they all look really really yucky but yet you look at it all and still wonder: How in the world did he survive it? The motorcycle is torn up. I still haven't seen it, although Shane has a front piece from it in his bedroom...and the key to it. It makes me so sad to see that key. Its still shiny and new- not worn out at all :( Funny, I dreaded him getting that bike, it terrified me and I felt it in my bones, but it made him so happy, so I dealt w/it. And I am so thankful he is alive in spite of that drunk driver! And because of God's grace.

Our family is going thru allot of trials right now too. On Friday we found out that the person who hit Shane on the bike does not have any auto insurance. Therefore, Shane will not be compensated for his lost wages etc. We don't even know if his bike loan will be pd for (about 10K). It doesn't look good for a civil suit b/c it looks like th eguy has nothing. I do not think I need to ever see this man. While I thank God tons of times a day for saving my son, I am not feeling very kind towards the dui guy. I'm betting y'all will agree?

Our lease is up on the rental we've been in this yr. and the boys said we could take over their apt(they got a townhouse last week) til our house sold and we got something else. SO we were all ready to move in their apt Fri when they got the word that we couldn't do that. SO we are staying with them til next wk. And from there we'll see where we go...Never a dull momment in our lives, huh?

I've missed my friends here in blogland and I want to tell each of you how important y'all are to me. I so appreciate all the thoughts and prayers and well wishes.

I really believe we are entering a new phase in our lives. Full of endings and new beginnings. Kind of fitting since we are getting to the end of the year. I really do feel some things coming full circle. Its hard to hold on and yet I can't wait for some things to end. I also can't wait to see some new beginnings. They are long over due for all of us! Its the waiting in between that is so so very hard!

~Just saw Shane....~

Just got home. He looks so wonderful! He has road rash on his wrists where the gloves were'nt leather and some on his elbows and he says both knees. A broken bone right below the knee and will see the orth dr tomorrow. He says his neck feels really weak and sore and he can't get up from a laying down position to sitting up without someone getting him up. He says his whole left side is what hurts more and he prob landed on it. His helmet saved his life. The plastic face shield was bent in half. The padded jacket he wears is ripped up but the pads did their job! He says he remembers flying thru the air and thinking that he was doing that and he couldn't believe it was happening. He said there was a guy in a porche and another in an SUV that stopped and stayed with him thew whole time. We have to find out who they are and thank them. He said that the emt's cut off his shirt and jeans(I thought he had just left work, but he had gone home and changed and was going out to meet friends.)

He said the driver hit him at 85-90 mph and then swerved right, left and then across the lanes and into a hotel parking lot where he hit a parked car. Shane said that he could hear the guy screaming in the ER as they stitched him up and someone told Shane that they didn't use any pain meds on him(the drunk). The guy's wife did come in Shane's room and ask if he was the one on the bike and that she was sorry. Shane told her he broke his leg and to look at his helmet that they said he shouldn't have survived! She started to cry.

I am so amazed that he was spared! God is so good! I just can't believe how good he looks! Thanks all of y'all for your prayers etc. I am so thankful my son is alive!

~Shane was in an accident last night~

He was on his motorcycle coming home from work last nite and going 55 down the highway. A drunk driver hit him from behind going 85 mph! He broke his leg and has some bruises and roadrash but is alive. He had his helmet on and jacket, gloves etc. He waited til now to tell Kelly who told me. The police said they don't know how he lived thru it. The drunk was arrested on DUI and attempted manslaughter.

I am so thankful to GOD that I have my son!

Kelly will be here in a little bit to take me to see him.

~Brain Block~

I can't think of a thing to say. The kids have been playing with different size boxes all day. Making rockets and a house for the stuffed animals. Really just low key. Kallee is reading really well.

I find that Britt is looking more into whats going on in the world. For instance reading on the net or watching local or CNN. She'll bring topics up to me, like the riots in France (she loves France and is dying to go to Paris). I see that when she is on the net, she's not only IM-ing friends, altho she still does that b/c she has cousins and friends all over(Germany, AZ, PA etc) she is looking up fashion trends and runway shows and interior design colleges and the list could go on. She's always looking for the newest out of BCBG and swears one day she will model for them. She is coming into her own opinions and ideas. She's digging deeper into herself and the world to see whats there. I am so proud of the young woman she is becoming! I love to spend time with her, talking and just being together. I really *like* who she is becoming.

I haven't been feeling too well the past few days. My FMS is kicking my butt. Too much stress=lots of pain, aches etc. But life goes on, and there are lots of things to be happy about too.

~Britt and Kallee's Visit to Nanny & G-pa~

Kallee and Britt went up to visit Nanny and Gpa in Clearwater. This visit was really special b/c it was Kal's first sleepever away from home! The girls stayed thru 2 nights. She was nerous before she went, but she had a great time!

On the second day, they went to the Lowry Park Zoo. My kids have been to this zoo tons of times. Allot of animals must have been hiding or something b/c there weren't many to be found...

Nanny made sugar cookies with the girls and they also tried a new recipe....lets just say they started out making cookie and ended up making fudge!

While the girls were away, Dallas and I stayed at Devin and Shane's apartment. That was like living in a boy's dorm. They have 2 friends staying with them for a week or two til 3 of them move into a new house. Dallas had a blast hanging out with all the guys. I heard one of them say to Shane "How come my little brother was never as cool as yours?"

Yesterday we just hung out by the pool. Britt's yorkie loves the water so the second she set him down on the pool deck this is what he did:

And he barks and swims at the same time, going in circles around the kid pool. If we're in the big pool , he'll jump in that too!
